Mercy on the innocent

The following incident took place when China was under the rule of Britain.     There was a priest in a Gurudwara located in the city of Shanghai, named Atmasingh. He was a very humble and kind person having profound faith in the Ultimate and his Creations. Another person named Babasingh was a frequent and regular visitor of the Gurudwara. He was very amicable with Atmasingh as well as his wife so much so that people started doubting Babasingh’s intentions towards the priest’s wife. They warned Atmasingh about this but he shoved the rumours away saying,” He who beholds faith in God shall see all others as noble, kind and honest. As one sows, the same shall he reap. I need not worry unnecessarily.”     The events took their turn and one day Babasingh got murdered. The Police suspected Atmasingh and arrested him. When produced before the court, he could not provide substantial evidence to support his innocence, hence the judge hammered down stating, “To be hung till death.”      There were no prosecuters in Shanghai, thus they were called in fom Hong Kong. On the destined day when the loop was put around Atmasingh’s neck, and the wooden plank was removed from under his feet, the rope snapped off and he fell down in the pitch below remaining unhurt. All present including the administrative officers got perplexed and bewildered. The whole episode was narrated to the British Council General, Sir John Braynon. He invited various specialists with the purpose of getting the rope inspected for its strength and sturdiness. The spacialists could not find any flaw. Sir John ordered to affix a new rope. This rope was tested with four times the weight of Atmasingh. When this rope passed all the tests, the arrangements for the procedure of hanging were made again. Several high designated officers came to witness the incident. When the loop was tied around Atma’s neck and was pulled , again the rope broke and he fell down in the pitch as before, this time also unhurt.     Friends! It is true that beyond the skies and the galaxy a very strong force exists. This force is none other than the Supreme Being. The wise, patient and impactful Almighty is all pervaisive. He always protects and rescues the peerless.     The British ambassador in China, Sir Hyu Nachbul Hyugeshan declared Atmasingh as innocent. He stated, “He who is looked after by the Ultimate cannot be dishonoured.”
