How to serve the ignorant

David Living Stone went to South Africa to serve the people of a very backward tribe. This tribe was so backward that it was called ‘Blind Well’. David went there with a threefold objective in mind, medical treatment, emotional help and social welfare. He also aimed at staying in this region forever and helping the needy people. But he and his ideas were not hugely welcome. David even tried to learn local language so as to communicate with the natives. Still, not many accepted him. They always considered him as a symbol of oppression and hated him. This contempt went to such an extent that once a local resident broke David’s arm. But even this failed to dissuade him and he kept on working relentlessly. He helped the people of South Africa in their fight against the racial ‘whites’. He served the nation for thirty long years with selfless love and undying enthusiasm and devotion while continuously facing criticism.
People took long to assess his emotional and sentimental worth and his compassion for them. But, when he left for his heavenly abode, people started wailing like babies and saying, “Our God has gone”.
