Once Muslim Saint Rabia was sitting with some saints and discussing on spiritual matters. At the same time, Hasan Basri came there and said,” Come! Let us discuss on spiritual matters on the lake’s water. It was said that Hasan had the power to walk on water.
Rabia could conjecture that Hasan wished to show off that very power. She replied,” Brother! What if we talk while flying in the air?” It was famous about Saint Rabia that she could fly in the air. Then, suddenly she became serious and said,” Brother! What you can perform, every fish can do that and what I can perform, every fly can do that.
The Truth is much higher than these shows. It has to be searched with humility. A real spiritualist must not lose his virtues by showing off the pride.”
Hasan understood the true meaning of spirituality, he regarded Rabia as his Guru(Master) and got engaged in self-refinement.
