Self Help

One day a few bloodhound dogs started chasing the rabbit. He got very scared and ran for his life. He went to the cow who was his friend and requested, ” Sister, please save me from these dogs by killing them with your horns.” The cow ignored his request and went away. Next he went to the horse and implored him to save his life. The horse replied, “Friend! I have forgot how to sit. How will you be able to perch on me?” Saying this even the horse trotted away. Poor rabbit went to the donkey whom he thought a valued friend and begged him to rescue him. The donkey replied, “If I reach back late, my master would thrash me. Kindly spare me and let me go.” Lastly, the rabbit resorted to the goat’s help. The goat said, ” I might put my own life at risk if I try to save you.” And she also ran away.

By now the rabbit had clearly understood that it was no use expecting and begging for help from others. Our own troubles and tribulations have to be faced by us and have to be solved by our own efforts and prowess. He ran with full might and hid behind thick bushes and he succeeded in dodging the dogs and saving his life.
