Patience and endurance are very important for a long lasting relationship between husband and wife! Two different people are never born alike and therefore, one should never try to impose anything on his/her partner. Rather an honest effort should be made to adjust and co-ordinate with each other thereby making our lives enjoyable rather than suffering in the wrath of hollow ego and disparity.
Thomas Cooper was a famous scholar of England. He spent many years in preparing a thesaurus for English language. He was still in the process of compiling the dictionary and was spending hours at length in his project. He remained so engrossed in his work that he was even unaware of the day to day happenings in his own family. Due to this, his wife used to be upset with him. One day his wife lost her patience and burned all of Thomas’s papers. When Thomas came to know about this immature display of emotions by his ignorant wife, he did not react in any way. He did not even regret the waste of his hard work of sixty long years. Ignoring the impulsive and natural hysteria of his wife he just remarked, ” My dear, you have prolonged my work for eight more years.” After this he started doing his task from scratch and that too with renewed zest.
